A shopkeeper has been injured following an incident at a shop earlier today.

The 53-year-old man was working in the Day to Day store in Lasswade Road when he was assaulted.

An area outside the shop is currently sealed off and police officers are still in attendance.

Police currently have a man detained in connection with the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police in Edinburgh responded to the Day to Day store on Lasswade Road at around 10.55 a.m. on Saturday 26th November following a report of an assault.

“A 53-year-old man who was working within the shop sustained facial injuries during this incident.

“A male is currently detained and inquiries are continuing.”
