Police appeal following Musselburgh assault

Police in East Lothian are appealing for information following an assault that took place in Musselburgh.

The incident happened around 7.40pm last night on Olivebank Road, near the River Esk. 

A 52-year-old woman was approached by a man who dragged her to the ground and subsequently suffered minor injuries to her chest, hands and legs. 

The suspect is described as white, of a skinny build and wearing dark clothing possibly with a hat and gloves. 

Detective Constable Ryan Gilhooly of Dalkeith CID, said: “The victim of this assault has thankfully not sustained any serious injuries as a result of this attack. 

“We believe this attack to be targeted and we are appealing for information surrounding the incident. 

“I would ask anyone who may have witnessed a man matching this description or was in the area of Olivebank Road or Market Street at the time of the attack to get in contact with police. 

“I would also urge anyone with dashcam footage that may have captured the assault to contact police.”
