Police appeal following armed robbery at Kirknewton Post Office and Pharmacy

Police in West Lothian are appealing for witnesses after an armed robbery in Kirknewton earlier today.

The incident happened at the pharmacy/post office in Main Street around 4 pm.

Cash and other items were stolen.

No-one was injured in the incident.

Officers are currently carrying out a search of the area with air support from the police helicopter for the two male suspects. Main Street is currently closed and will remain so for several hours.

The suspects left the premises and headed up a near-by vennel pursued by members of the public.

The first suspect is described as wearing a black balaclava, a grey hooded top and a black puffy body warmer.

The second suspect was wearing an Adidas hooded top, black on the bottom half and white on the top with a luminous green zip.

Officers are urging anyone who was in the area and who may have seen the incident or the suspects around the time of the robbery to please get in touch.

Detective Inspector Paul Batten said: “We are still searching the area for these suspects and are keen to hear from anyone who may have information that can assist us.

“Thankfully no-one was injured during this robbery but this was a terrifying ordeal for the staff.

“We are doing everything we can to find these individuals.

“Anyone who was in the vicinity or who has information that can assist us is asked to contact us on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
