Police have charged a man in connection with a serious assault that occurred in Leith.

The incident occurred around 6.15pm on Pirrie Street last night.

A 50-year-old man was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with facial injuries but released after treatment.

The 34-year-old man is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.
