Police appeal after serious in Muirhouse 

Police in Edinburgh are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in the Muirhouse area of the city.



The incident happened around 5 p.m. on Tuesday 13th September in Birnies Court.

A number of youths were causing a disturbance in the area when a 63-year-old man challenged them on their behaviour.

At this time one of the group punched the victim, causing him to fall to the ground.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment to a head injury.

Anyone who can assist officers with this ongoing investigation is asked to come forward.

The suspect is described as white, male, late teens to early twenties, 5ft 6ins tall with long dark hair and wearing a bright green polo shirt and dark jogging bottoms.

Detective Constable Gavin Howat from the Violence Reduction Unit at Corstorphine said: “The victim sustained a painful injury to his head after being punched to the ground and we are actively pursuing a number of lines of inquiry to trace the male responsible. 

“We would ask that anyone who was within the area and witnessed this incident to contact police immediately.

“In addition, anyone with any further information relevant to this assault should also get in touch.”
