Police Scotland can confirm that a 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a slip in theft at an address in Weaver Place, Bathgate.

The incident occurred on Saturday, September 10. The 36-year-old will appear at Livingston Sheriff Court on Thursday, September 22.

Officers are still looking to trace a brown handbag and a black leather purse, which belonged to the elderly female occupier.

Police Constable Julias Nyamakanga of Livingston Community Investigation Unit said: “Tackling crimes of dishonesty and swiftly arresting those involved is a priority for us and we will always work to combat this issue throughout West Lothian.

“The items belonging to the elderly woman are of sentimental value and she is eager for them to be returned.

“Anyone with information about their whereabouts is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
