Louise Tiffney’s son to face retrial over her death

The son of murdered Edinburgh woman, Louise Tiffney, is to face a second trial over her death.

Sean Flynn will be back in the dock over 17 years after the Edinburgh mum, 43, vanished from her home in the Dean area.

Flynn stood trial in 2005 but walked free on the not-proven verdict.

A Scottish Courts and Tribunal Service spokesman said: “The Crown application under the Double Jeopardy Act was allowed today.

“The previous acquittal was quashed.

“A fresh prosecution has been authorised and it will be for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service to take the matter forward if they so choose.”
