Investigation launched after body found in North Edinburgh flat

An investigation is underway after a body was discovered in a flat in Pilton earlier today.

Cops were called to the property in Inchgarvie Court at around 2am and made the discovery.

One local who asked not to be named said “I was working on a back shift and was just getting ready for bed when I heard voices on the landing.

“I had a quick look out and noticed it was police officers.

“They told me there was nothing to worry about.

“I went back into my flat and went to bed.

“When I got up this morning there was more police and another neighbour told me they had found a body in the flat.

“I am not sure who it is that lives in the flat as I haven’t seen anyone going into it for months.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said “Police in Edinburgh were called to Inchgarvie Court around 2am on Tuesday (June 21) following a report of concern for a person.

“A body was found within a flat and the death is currently being treated as unexplained pending further enquiries
