A motorcyclist has died following a collision with a car on the A68

The 31-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash near Carter Bar at around 10.10am on Sunday.

A 41-year-old woman driving the Volvo his Kawasaki motorbike collided with was taken to Borders General Hospital with minor injuries.

 The crash, which happened on the Scottish side of the border, closed roads on either side of the divide.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said:

“Police were called to the junction of the A6088 and A68, near Carter Bar, at around 10.10am on Sunday following a serious road traffic collision.

“A 31-year-old male motorcyclist was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

“Road closures are currently in place from Jedburgh and motorists are advised to avoid the area.”
