Investigation launched after car deliberately torched in Gilmerton

Police in Edinburgh are appealing for witnesses following a wilful fire raising in the Gilmerton area of the city. 

The incident happened around 10.30pm last night when a fire was deliberately started to a motor vehicle parked in Rutherford Drive, Edinburgh. 

Three male suspect wearing tracksuits with hoods were seen in the area. 

Officers are appealing for information and would ask anyone who can assist with ongoing enquiries to come forward. 

Detective Constable Christina Yeoman, of Gayfield CID, said: “Thankfully the fire was quickly brought under control by the fire service. However the consequences of this act could have been much worse and we are eager to trace those responsible. 

“We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen men matching this description or any suspicious vehicles in the area at the time”.
