A woman has died after falling from a window on Morningside Road.

The woman is understood to have fallen from the second floor window at around 9am.

The street is currently closed as police carry out their investigation into the woman’s death.

One local said “The woman was lying in the street being worked on by the paramedics.”

Paramedics and a specialist trauma team from the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary attended but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Police in Edinburgh were called to Morningside Road around 8.50 am Saturday 25th June after a woman fell from a window.

“The Scottish Ambulance Service attended but sadly the woman died at the scene.

“Inquiries are at an early stage but there are thought to be no suspicious circumstances.

“Morningside Road is currently closed in both directions between Falcon Road West and Steels Place.”
