Woman cut free from car following city centre collision

An injured woman who was trapped in her car after a crash had to be freed by firefighters.

Emergency services were called to the junction of Broughton Street and Albany Street in central Edinburgh at about 12.20am on Saturday after a collision between two cars

Hydraulic cutting equipment was needed to remove the woman from her vehicle and she was then taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary by ambulance.

A Spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said “Our Edinburgh control immediately dispatched a Paramedic Response Unit and a ambulance to this RTC, arriving within 3 minutes we requested the assistance of Scottish Fire and Rescue

“Once freed a 19 Year old female was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with a suspected neck injury”
