Tesco has announced it is teaming up with Hibernian FC to help deliver Christmas lunch to those in need this festive season.
The club are laying on a specially organised event feeding up to 250 people at their Easter Road Stadium on Christmas Day.
And their local Tesco store in Leith has stepped forward to supply ingredients for the lunch.
Fraser Cromar, Tesco Leith Store Manager, today delivered vouchers which will pay for the food, to Hibernian Manager Neil Lennon.
Fraser said: “Many people are facing the prospect of Christmas alone so events like this are absolutely wonderful for bringing them together in a safe and warm environment.
“Hibernian is our local club and the ground is less than a mile from the store. So when the opportunity came-up to support we were only too happy to help.”
As well as delivering food for the lunch, the Leith store will also supply 250 bags for guests including hats, scarves, gloves and other goodies.
The club’s Community Foundation are organising the event as part of the GameChanger Partnership with the Club and NHS Lothian.
The food is being paid for using £2,000 worth of store vouchers.
