Part of Holyrood Road has been sealed off by police after a suspicious item was discovered just after 1.30pm.
A specialist bomb disposal team will be attending to assess the item shortly.
Diversions are in place and the road remains closed.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said “We were called at 1.35pm to a report of a suspicious item.
“We are still at the scene and a cordon has been put up as a precaution.”
It’s unclear how long the road will be closed for.
