Comely Bank and Orchard Brae have been closed due to a fire in a house beside Flora Stevenson’s Primary School.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are still in attendance at the fire along with building inspectors from the City of Edinburgh Council.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said “We received a call just after 1.34am reporting a two story building alight.

“The fire started in a shower room but quickly spread to the roof space.

“There is extensive damage to the roof and we are still on scene along with building control inspectors.”

It’s not yet known if this will result in the school being closed today.
