Police in East Lothian are appealing for witnesses after a RIB boat was stolen from a Sea Cadet unit based in Dunbar.

The thief or thieves targeted the premises on North Road sometime between 9:30pm on Tuesday, July 12th and Thursday, July 14th.

Local officers are now carrying out various lines of inquiry in an effort to trace those responsible and are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.

The boat has a fitted outboard motor and had been held on a trailer, which was also taken in the raid.

Inspector Alan Hogarth who is based in Haddington police station said: “The Sea Cadets do a tremendous amount of good work for the local community and I can assure them that we will do all we can to recover their property and arrest those responsible.

“The thief or thieves have managed to steal this boat, which is worth a four-figure sum of money, as it sat on a trailer. I would urge anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour including the presence of unknown vehicles in the area to come forward immediately.”

Those with information can contact police on 101 or the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
