Rangers ease past Hibs at Easter Road

Rangers ran out deserved winners against Hibs at Easter Road in last nights Ladbrokes Premier League match.

The visitors took the lead early in the game after a blunder by Marciano gifted the opener to Ryan Kent in the opening minutes.

Five minutes later and Steven Gerrard’s team doubled their lead through Joe Aribo who curled the ball into the top corner.

Hibs never really threatened the Rangers goal during the game and found themselves three-nil down in the 52nd minute when Defoe slammed the ball into the net from close range.

Hibs’ frustrations boiled over on the hour when Porteous flew into Barisic, earning the Hibs defender a straight red card.

After the match Hibernian head coach Jack Ross said “We were a long way short of where we needed to be. The start of the game makes it very difficult for us, particularly against one of the top two sides in the league.

“It made it a long and difficult evening, but we need to be better in the basic part of the game to produce a better result.”

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard said “Let’s all just admire Jermain Defoe. He’s not going to be around for very much longer. So let’s just admire real, high-class forward play.

“The first touch and second touch are world class and he does what he does.”
