Private Hire driver protests during annual taxi outing after being sprayed with water

A private hire taxi driver stalled today’s Edinburgh Taxi Trade Charity day out after lying down in front of the convoy after he was sprayed with water from a child taking part.

The bizarre incident took place on the Canongate as over one hundred taxis made their journey to East Lothian with kids to take part in the annual outing.

The video was shot from a passenger who was onboard a bus that was parked to allow the taxis to pass.

The private hire driver was out of his car and appeared unhappy before being sprayed with water from a passing cab.

At that point, he runs into the middle of the road and lies down to block the rest of the vehicles.

After some time he gets to his feet and when the police arrive he says to the officer “They soaked me deliberately, what are you going to do about it.”

When the officer says “nothing” the driver then puts his hands out in front of him and asks the officer to arrest him before the convoy moves on.

The video has been shared thousands of times online.

Over 100 kids took part in the 73rd outing which is organised and funded by the Edinburgh black cab drivers.
