Police make arrests following West Lothian enforcement action

Eight people have been arrested and charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act following two days of enforcement action in West Lothian.

As part of Operation Borah, an ongoing initiative to tackle drug crime across the Lothians and Scottish Borders, Community Policing Officers and Proactive CID detectives executed search warrants at six homes in Livingston, Armadale, Bathgate, Whitburn and Breich.

During this activity cannabis, heroin and valium worth £10,000 was recovered and two electricity meters were found to have been illegally bypassed.

Seven men aged 43, 47,38,24,47,30 and 40 and a 46-year-old woman will appear at court at a later date.

Inspector Adam Smith from Livingston Police Station said: “Tackling drug crime and the associated harm it caused to our communities is a priority for police in West Lothian and we will continue to act on intelligence from the public to carry out enforcement action such as this.

“If you have any information relating to ongoing drug crime in your area then please contact us on 101 or make an anonymous report to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
