Police hunt male after public indecency incident in Dalkeith

Police in Midlothian are appealing for witnesses following an indecent incident in Dalkeith.

A 55-year-old woman was walking along Easthouse Road, towards Mayfield, between 10.30 p.m. and 10.45 p.m. on Saturday 26th November when she became aware of a man in the bushes near the bus stop on Bogwood Road.

The male appeared to be performing an indecent act and did not stop after becoming aware of the woman’s presence.

Inquiries are ongoing to trace the suspect who is described only as wearing dark clothing and a dark beanie hat.

Anyone with information is asked to come forward.

Detective Inspector Paul Batten said: “This was an unpleasant experience for the woman, though thankfully she was not injured and was in no way threatened by the male.

“Nevertheless, we are treating this very seriously and would urge anyone who was in the area and remembers seeing anything suspicious on Saturday evening to contact police immediately.”

Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
