Police appeal for witnesses after female driver killed in A1 collision

Police in East Lothian are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on the A1.

The incident happened at around 7:50am on Friday, December 9th, on the northbound carriageway near Dunbar.

A 26-year-old woman sustained fatal injuries after her Kia Cerato was involved in a collision with a Ford Transit pick-up.

The 54-year-old male driver of the pick-up was taken to the Royal Infirmary for Edinburgh for medical attention however his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Local diversions were put in place while Road Policing Officers closed the road in both directions between Spott Roundabout and Thistly Cross in Dunbar.

Sergeant Gary Taylor of the Divisional Road Policing Unit based in Livingston said: “Sadly, a young woman has lost her life as a result of this collision and our thoughts are with her family and loved ones at this difficult time.

“I’d urge anyone who was travelling in the area and who witnessed this incident or the movements of either vehicle prior to the collision to contact police immediately if not already done so.”
