Police appeal following serious collision in Midlothian

Police in Midlothian are investigating following a serious road traffic collision on the A6106 outside the Fordel Filling Station in Dalkeith.

The incident happened around 8.45pm on Thursday 6th April, when a blue Volkswagen golf collided with a red Honda CBR 125 motorbike.

The rider of the bike, a man aged 26 sustained a serious leg injury and was taken by the Scottish Ambulance Service to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment where he is currently detained in a stable condition.

The 53-year-old driver of the volkswagen golf was uninjured.

The road was closed whilst both vehicles were recovered and initial investigations were undertaken.

Enquiries into the full circumstances are ongoing.

Police Constable Steven Tait of the Divisional Road Policing Unit in Dalkeith said:

“This is a serious collision, which could result in life-changing injuries for the rider.

“We are investigating this incident and are eager to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision.

“I would urge anyone who was on the A6106 around 8.45pm on Thursday 6th April, and has information, to get in touch with police immediately.”
