Police appeal after man dies in Midlothian collision

Police in Midlothian are continuing their inquiries following a serious road traffic collision on the A6094.

Officers were called to the Howgate area at 3.40pm on Saturday 29 October.

A red Citroen Berlingo van had struck a dry stone wall and overturned in the village.

The Scottish Ambulance Service also attended and the 47-year-old male driver was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

His 14-year-old male passenger was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary as a precaution.

The road was closed in both directions until approximately 8.30pm to allow investigations to be conducted at the scene.

Sergeant Neil Inglis of Road Policing Unit said: “Inquiries into this collision continue and our sincere condolences remain with the family of the driver at this very difficult time.

“We’ve spoken to a number of people so far but anyone who witnessed this and who has not yet been in touch is urged to come forward.”

Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101.
