Naked bike ride takes place today

EDINBURGH is preparing to host a “naked” bike ride on Saturday with cyclists urged to go as “bare as you dare” in the event on the Meadows.

Aimed as a protest against car culture and a way to demonstrate cyclist vulnerably on the roads, the five mile ride through the city centre runs from 2pm to 4pm.

Organisers say the dress code is “bare as you dare but to cover the genitalia”. Shoes are advised.

The event for over 16s only takes off from Middle Meadow Walk at 2pm and is part of the Edinburgh Festival of Cycling.
