Man arrested following alleged attempted armed robbery in North Edinburgh

Police in Edinburgh can confirm that a 21-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted armed robbery at a commercial premises in Ferry Road Drive. 

The incident happened around 8pm on Tuesday, May 16.

The 21-year-old will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday, May 18.

Chief Inspector James Jones, Local Area Commander for North West Edinburgh, said:  “Crimes of violence are completely unacceptable and we will not tolerate offences of this nature taking place in the North Edinburgh area. 

“We treat violent crimes with the upmost seriousness.  Those found to be partaking in this type of criminality will be dealt with swiftly and we will continue to use all the tools at our disposal to bring them to justice. 

“We are conducting patrols in the Ferry Road Drive area in order to reassure the local community following this incident.
