Police are investigating after a man was seriously sexually assaulted in Wester Hailes last night.

Officers attended the scene on Murrayburn Place last night and were still in attendance today.

One local told how the area was sealed off and police officers were guarding the area.

The local said “I didn’t notice anything last night and when I got up this morning the place was cordoned off.

“The police were protecting an area between two blocks of flats.

“They wouldn’t say what was going on bit it looked serious.”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said “Police in Edinburgh are investigating following a report of a serious sexual assault on a 36-year-old man in the Wester Hailes area of the city.

“The incident happened on the evening of Thursday 29th September in Murrayburn Place.

“Inquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing and anyone with information that can assist officers with their investigation is asked to come forward.”
