Police officers were seen enforcing the lockdown at Portobello beach earlier today. 

Around ten officers were on the beach at around 5pm and advising people who were sunbathing to stop and leave the area. 

People had taken to the beach on what was one of the hottest days of the year so far. 

Under lockdown measures imposed by prime minister Boris Johnson in March, people are only supposed to go outside for essential trips, such as buying food or medicine, as well as one form of exercise a day.
