Police in East Lothian have released CCTV images of a man that officers wish to speak to in relation to an assault and robbery in Tranent at around 8.15pm on Thursday 18th August 2016 within the Mini Market on New Row.

During the incident, a shop assistant was assaulted and a four-figure sum was stolen.

Police believe that the man shown in the images may be able to assist them with their enquiries and would ask any members of the public that recognise him to come forward.

The man is described as white, in his 40s, around 6’2” tall, of medium build with short brown hair and dark stubble. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a dark blue jacket, dark grey jeans, light brown boots, black gloves, dark scarf and a black trapper style cap.

Detective Constable John Fortune, of Dalkeith CID, said: “Although the shopkeeper did not require medical treatment, this was a very distressing incident for the members of staff involved.

“Consequently we would urge anyone who recognises the male, his description, or may have seen him in the area to come forward.”
