Broxburn baby death now treated as suspicious

Police have confirmed the death of a baby found injured in a care home in Broxburn is now being treated as suspicious.

Twelve week old Sophia Williams was found injured in Strathbrock Family Unit in May.

She was rushed to St John’s hospital in Livington before being transferred to the Sick Kids Hospital.

She died in hospital two days later

Detective Inspector Rory Hamilton of the Major Investigations Team based at Leith Police

Station said: “We are now treating the death of Sophia Williams as suspicious.

“Our investigation continues as we work towards establishing the full set of circumstances that led to Sophia’s death and it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.”
