BREAKING: Police cordon off Gibson Terrace

Police have closed Gibson Terrace in Fountainbridge with reports of armed officers in attendance.

The street has been closed for around two hours and local’s have taken to social media to find out what’s going on.

Kate MacDonald tweeted: “anyone know what’s going on at fountainpark? armed police/military have set up a roadblock there & residents are being told to stay inside.

“So there’s an armed response unit with automatic weapons plus dogs and at least three ambulances”

One eyewitness who asked not to be named said “The ambulances pulled up and then police cars arrived from everywhere.

“The police didn’t take long in clearing street and then out tape up to stop anyone from getting in.

“My car is parked in the cordoned area and I have been told I won’t get that out until the morning.

“There are various rumours going around but I am not sure what is going on.”

Police Scotland confirmed they were in attendance but wouldn’t release any further details.

More to follow as we have it.
