A teenager is recovering in hospital after being stabbed following an alleged disturbance in Pennywell last night.
The 16-year-old boy is understood to have been stabbed by another teenager, who has now been arrested.
One local told how police flooded the area following a “shouting match”.
They said “There was a shouting match near the back of the shopping centre but it seemed to all be kids.
“It was still quite early so there was nothing unusual about that.
“Then there were sirens and the police seem to come from all directions and then an ambulance arrived.
“One of the groups was taken away by the ambulance and the police seemed to be searching the local area.”
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said “Police in Edinburgh attended Pennywell Road shortly after 8pm on Friday (August 19) following a disturbance.
“A 16-year-old male sustained an injury to his torso and was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
“A 16-year-old has been arrested and is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday.”
