Police take £10k worth of drugs off Edinburgh streets in one day

Plain clothed officers yesterday searched a man on North Bridge suspected to be involved in a drugs handover. A 30 year old was later charged for being concerned in the supply of class B drugs.

The search of a house in the Dalry area was carried out and approximately £8250 worth of drugs was recovered and £2200 cash.

Inspector David Robertson, Community Inspector for the City Centre said: “These are significant recoveries resulting from officers being out on the ground, responding to information received by you, the public.

“Please continue to assist in tackling drug dealing in your communities by coming forward with information or calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Under the same operation, officers were pursuing a 19 year old man wanted on warrant in the Muirhouse area. During this pursuit, another man was observed exiting a premises carrying large amounts of cannabis and other drugs paraphernalia.

A 24 year old man has been charged with being concerned in the supply of drugs. Approximately a further £1625 worth of cannabis seized.

Chief Inspector Jimmy Jones, area commander of the North West said:

“By conducting focussed patrols in hot spot areas in the North West, we continue to tackle drug related disorder.

“Through further work with partners, I assure you we are taking both an enforcement and preventative approach under Operation Eagle and act upon every incident reported to us.”
