Police are probing the death of a teenager who was found dead in a city flat on Sunday morning.
Emergency services raced to the property on West Richmond Street just after 11am but there was nothing that could be done to save the 14-year-old, named locally as Liam Rodgers.
A Facebook page, called Liam Rodgers GBNF has been set up with plans to release sky lanterns in memory of the popular teen on Wednesday night..
One friend wrote on the page: “No one deserves to die that young, especially a boy like Liam, not a bad bone in his body and never once heard anyone say anything negative about him. Truly one in a million. GBNF.”
Another posted: “God does only take the best, RIP Liam. You were the nicest boy, I will miss you so much, I love you, GBNF, always be in my heart.”
A police spokeswoman said: “Police in Edinburgh were called to a residential address in the south side area of the city around 11.20am on Sunday, December 10 following the death of a 14-year-old boy.
“The death is currently being treated as unexplained pending further enquiries and support is being offered to his family at this very difficult time. A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
