Police are investigating the attempted murder of a man who was stabbed in Lochend Park last night.
The man has been left in a serious condition following the stabbing.
Emergency services raced to the scene just before 8.30pm last night.
It’s understood the man was stabbed in the chest and a specialist trauma team from the Royal Infirmary were sent to the scene.
One local who asked not to be named said “I heard a commotion outside my flat then I saw the police arrive and then the ambulance.
“I didn’t think much about it then I heard them talking about a stabbing.
“This area is normally quite quiet too.”
The Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed they attended, a spokesperson said “We received the call at 8.25pm and sent an ambulance crew, rapid response unit and Medic 1 from the Royal Infirmary.
“We conveyed a man to hospital in a serious condition.”
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Police in Edinburgh are investigating following an attempted murder in Lochend Public Park.
“The incident happened around 8.20pm on Monday, November 14. The 33-year-old male victim was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment where he is detained in a serious condition.
“Enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
