Police are appealing for information following a serious assault on Saughton Road North.
The incident happened at around 2am on Saturday, when a 26-year-old man, along with a friend, left a licensed premises on Saughton Road North.
Upon leaving the premises, the 26-year-old was attacked by a number of men. After the attack, the male suspects were then picked up by a passing vehicle and left the scene.
The victim suffered several facial injuries and was taken the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment. He has since been transferred to St John’s Hospital to undergo surgery for his injuries.
We are now investigating and are appealing to the public for information.
We are particularly keen to speak the driver of a black coloured vehicle, which was temporarily parked outside Scotmid on Saughton Road North at around 1.40am.
We believe the driver may have witnessed the incident, or may have seen either the victim or suspects beforehand.
Detective Constable Peter Stark of Corstorphine CID said: “This was a brutal attack, which has left the victim with severe facial injuries which require surgery.
“We are particularly keen to speak to the driver of the black-coloured vehicle that was seen in the area at the time of the attack.
“We would urge the driver, or anyone else who was in the area, to come forward and contact us immediately.”
