One month anniversary of Antoine Maury missing person appeal

Police in Edinburgh are again appealing for information in order to trace 21-year-old student Antoine Maury, who has been missing since Monday, October 24.

Antoine, a French national studying in Edinburgh, became missing around 10.30pm when he suddenly left his friends at Edinburgh College’s Milton Road Campus.

A man matching Antoine’s description was later seen between 10.45pm and 11pm near to the Duddingston Village area of Holyrood Park, heading into the park.

The man was believed to be topless, and this is believed to be the last known sighting of Antoine.

Chief Inspector Kevin McLean, Area Commander for North East Edinburgh, said:  “Our search for Antoine is ongoing and we are still activity looking to trace him.

“I would like to pay tribute to Antoine’s family and the dignity and bravery they have shown throughout this time.  I would also like to thank the public and media for their assistance throughout this investigation, their support has been crucial.

“Unfortunately we are still looking for that key piece of information that will lead to us finding Antoine and give us the answers the Maury family are desperately seeking.

“I would again ask anyone who remembers seeing Antoine on Monday, October 24, or recognises his description to come forward.  That piece of information may be vital and may be what leads us to tracing Antoine.”

Antoine is described as a white man with a medium build and bright green eyes.  He is around 6ft in height with short brown hair, a beard and a fair complexion.  He has a tattoo of a bleeding hand on his forearm.

He was wearing a brown/green bomber jacket with dark-coloured chinos and a white beanie hat at his last confirmed sighting. He is also believed to have been wearing black and white Vans trainers.

Antoine suffers from poor eyesight and usually wear glasses, however officers believe he is without them.

In the last month officers have conducted an extensive search to trace Antoine.  Several specialist resources have been deployed in Holyrood Park and the Duddingston Village area.

Search and rescue officers have been deployed along with police dogs.  Searches were also conducted by Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue and Borders Search and Rescue.

The Police Scotland Marine Unit has been out on Duddingston Loch and have deployed sonar equipment over the loch.

A media campaign was launched along with a poster, which was distributed across the local area.

Over 100 volunteers attended at Holyrood High School on Saturday, October 29, and Sunday, October 30, in order to search for Antoine.  CCTV checks have also been completed along with door-to-door enquiries around Duddingston and Pollock Halls.
