A man has been rushed to hospital after being seriously assaulted in the Parkgrove area of the city this morning.
Emergency services raced to Parkgrove Green at around 10am after the alarm was raised.
A police search dog was seen searching a nearby wooded area and officers were also seen searching near Drumbrae Leisure Centre.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10am on Tuesday, 19 May, officers in Edinburgh were called to reports of a serious assault in the Parkgrove Green area of the city.
“A 39-year-old man suffered serious injury and has been taken to hospital by the Scottish Ambulance Service.
“Enquires into the circumstances are ongoing.”
