A man is due to appear in court today after five people were rushed to hospital following an alleged hit and run collision on Frederick Street in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident just after 12.30am and three women – aged 37, 22 and 65 – and two men, aged 39 and 60, were taken to hospital.
Four of the pedestrians were released from hospital last night after being treated for their injuries.
A spokeseperson for Police Scotland said “A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with road traffic offences.
“It follows enquiries carried out after police received a report of a road traffic crash in Rose Street, near its junction with Frederick Street on Sunday 12 September. 2021.
“The man is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, 13 September, 2021.”
