Buchanan Street in Leith has been closed off following a disturbance at a property.
Police officers attended the property earlier this afternoon and cordons have now been put up in the street.
One onlooker told how it all started when two police officers entered a stairwell.
They said “Two cops in a car turned up and went in the stair and then another police car turned up.
“Within ten minutes there was about eight police cars and a van there.
“It didn’t take them long to shut the street and put up tape stopping people getting near it.”
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Police in Edinburgh are currently in attendance following a report of a disturbance at an address in Buchanan Street.
“The incident is still ongoing and cordons remain in place in the surrounding area.
“Officers would like to thank the public for their patience at this time.”
