A man has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed in a pub on Drum Street in Gilmerton earlier today.
Emergency services raced to the Mechanic Arms just after 2.30pm and the street around the pub remains cordoned off.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police in Edinburgh are investigating following a serious assault within a pub in Drum Street at around 2.40 p.m. on Sunday 27th November.
“A 28-year-old man sustained an injury to his chest and was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.
“The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time and inquiries into the full circumstances surrounding this incident are ongoing.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or make an anonymous report to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
