Emergency services are responding to reports of a person in the sea near Portobello.

Emergency services raced scene just after 9pm tonight after reports a person had fallen off an inflatable Lilo.

A Coastguard rescue helicopter from Prestwick is on the scene along with lifeboats and specialist search teams.

A spokesperson for the HM Coastguard said “We are searching for a person in water who may have gone in off an inflatable Lilo.

“We received a call at around 9pm reporting a person on a Lilo drifting near Portobello Beach.

“After ten minutes the informant could no longer see the person on the Lilo.

“A lifeboat crew has recovered an inflatable Lilo from the sea and we are searching the water.

“We have a Coastguard helicopter on the scene as well as various search teams.
