Bomb disposal experts have been called to an area of Musselburgh after items of concern were discovered in an abandoned vehicle.

A large cordon is in place in the Newbigging area and nearby homes have been evacuated.

Members of the public have been urged to avoid the area.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We are in attendance in the Newbigging area of Musselburgh after items of concern were found within an abandoned vehicle.

“Emergency services and EOD are on scene. Nearby properties have been evacuated and a cordon has been set up.

“Please avoid the area for your own safety.”
