3 Adults and 6 dogs rescued from Cramond Island by Coastguard and RNLI
South Queensferry Coastguard and RNLI today rescued 3 people and their 6 dogs from Cramond Island
Coastguard today said
Paged to assist 3 persons and 6 dogs being brought ashore by RNLI Queensferry Lifeboat in Cramond village. Having misread the tide times and found themselves cut off they took the sensible step of phoning the coastguard rather than trying to make their own way back.
It’s easy to misread tide tables as they come in various formats and times can vary depending on seasonal corrections. If you’re planning a trip in tidal areas we suggest you check the published safe crossing times, which can be found:
– Posted on noticeboards at Cramond and Silverknowes foreshore
– By SMS on the day, text “CRAMOND” to 81400 (standard rate) for times and advice
– Online at http://www.queensferrylifeboat.co.uk/#!cramond/c1v0s
